There remains, then, a Sabbath-rest for the people of God; 10 for anyone who enters God’s rest also rests from their works, just as God did from his.
God rescued the nation of Israel from Egypt and led them to the promised land. They were promised by God in Deuteronomy 6-10-11 that He would “ushers you into the land he promised through your ancestors Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob to give you, you’re going to walk into large, bustling cities you didn’t build, well-furnished houses you didn’t buy, come upon wells you didn’t dig, vineyards and olive orchards you didn’t plant.
As you know, the Israelites did not enter the promised land because of their unbelief (Numbers 14:30). BUT there is good news! Hebrews 4:9 tells us that there remains a Sabbath rest for us as His children. When we rest in Him, we will see Him work to deliver all His promises, and we will enjoy all of His blessings. When we have faith in our spirit and acknowledged by the Holy Spirit to have that Sabbath rest in His finished works, we will enter our promised land. We will live in places that we did not build; we will have resources that we did provide; goodness and provisions that we did not plant. In His rest, we stop working because Jesus has finished it all. We rest in His finished work. All the promises of God find their “Yes” in Jesus Christ.
Depend on God and keep at it because in the Lord God you have a sure thing. Praise His faithfulness!
