Finishing Strong

Galatians 3:3

Are you going to continue this craziness? For only crazy people would think they could complete by their own efforts what was begun by God. If you weren’t smart enough or strong enough to begin it, how do you suppose you could perfect it?

It is always encouraging to see God working on our behalf and blessing New Creation Ministries.  BUT the other side of the coin can be devastating.  When we see God’s blessing, some of us will start helping God by developing our plan and working that plan.  For instance, we can easily want to talk to more people and ask them to support us.  We may want to review our budget to consider an upgrade in our technology so we can have more presence in the social media arena.  While, there is nothing wrong with either of those desires, the problem is introduced when we try to do it in our strength.   So, Paul asks us “Do we finish by our flesh what God has started by the Spirit”.  The answer is NO!  We will never create God’s work no matter how much effort we exert.

Look at what God said Psalm 127: 1-2:
If God doesn’t build the house, the builders only build shacks.
If God doesn’t guard the city, the night watchman might as well nap.
It’s useless to rise early and go to bed late and work your worried fingers to the bone. Don’t you know he enjoys giving rest to those he loves?

Notice that He enjoys giving us rest!  We rest in His completed work.  Galatians 3:11 says “The person who lives in right relationship with God does it by embracing what God arranges for him. Doing things for God is the opposite of entering into what God does for you.”  Ephesians 2:10 tells us “He creates each of us by Christ Jesus to join him in the work he does, the good work he has gotten ready for us to do, work we had better be doing.”

Are you resting in God’s work?   God’s work flows like rivers of living water.  We thank Him because He has set us up so that we may experience the victory that we have in Jesus!
