What is Discipleship?
God is recognised from three (3) perspectives. He is God, Our Creator, our Lord and Saviour and our Helper. If you remember. He created the Heavens and the earth. On the sixth day, He finished creation. He is a Creator and a Finisher
Lord and Savior
Secondly, He is our Lord and Savior. He came to Earth with the divine purpose of paying for our sins through His death on the Cross and overcoming the power of death by the resurrection. After three (3) days in the grave, He declared everything finished! He is our Savior and Finisher
The Holy Spirit - Our Helper
7 The Holy Spirit is given to each of us based on Jesus’ decision. Jesus promised us a Helper in John 14. Look at what He says.. That is for the good of all. 8 To some people the Spirit gives a message of wisdom. To others the same Spirit gives a message of knowledge. 9 To others the same Spirit gives faith. To others that one Spirit gives gifts of healing. 10 To others he gives the power to do miracles. To others he gives the ability to prophesy. To others he gives the ability to tell the spirits apart. To others he gives the ability to speak in different kinds of languages they had not known before. And to still others he gives the ability to explain what was said in those languages. 11 All the gifts are produced by one and the same Spirit. He gives gifts to each person, just as he decides.
There is this great promise that brings the disciple great comfort, encouragement. and confidence!
Believe me: I am in my Father and my Father is in me. If you can’t believe that, believe what you see—these works. The person who trusts me will not only do what I’m doing but even greater things, because I, on my way to the Father, am giving you the same work to do that I’ve been doing. You can count on it. From now on, whatever you request along the lines of who I am and what I am doing, I’ll do it. That’s how the Father will be seen for who he is in the Son. I mean it. Whatever you request in this way, I’ll do.
The Spirit of Truth
15-17 “If you love me, show it by doing what I’ve told you. I will talk to the Father, and he’ll provide you another Friend so that you will always have someone with you. This Friend is the Spirit of Truth. The godless world can’t take him in because it doesn’t have eyes to see him, doesn’t know what to look for. But you know him already because he has been staying with you, and will even be in you!
18-20 “I will not leave you orphaned. I’m coming back. In just a little while the world will no longer see me, but you’re going to see me because I am alive and you’re about to come alive. At that moment you will know absolutely that I’m in my Father, and you’re in me, and I’m in you.
21 “The person who knows my commandments and keeps them, that’s who loves me. And the person who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I will love him and make myself plain to him.”
We are Co-Workers with Christ
Sometimes Christians believe that salvation only gives us the right to be saved out of Hell into Heaven od is not satisfied with saving us without leading us into His full purpose. Listen to how God outlines His plan to be co-workers with Him
But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, 5 made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions—it is by grace you have been saved. 6 And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus, 7 in order that in the coming ages he might show the incomparable riches of his grace, expressed in his kindness to us in Christ Jesus. 8 For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— 9 not by works, so that no one can boast. 10 For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.He creates each of us by Christ Jesus to join him in the work he does, the good work he has gotten ready for us to do, work we had better be doingis Wisdom. There are different kinds of gifts. But they are all given to believers by the same Spirit. 5 There are different ways to serve. But they all come from the same Lord. 6 There are different ways the Spirit works. But the same God is working in all these ways and in all people.
The Lord sets us up for success according to gifts and ministry that He gives us.
7 The Holy Spirit is given to each of us in a special way. Jesus promised us our Helper in John 14. Look at what Jesus says.. That is for the good of all. 8 To some people the Spirit gives a message of wisdom. To others the same Spirit gives a message of knowledge. 9 To others the same Spirit gives faith.
